Balanced Living Pathways

RETURN TO CENTER

Lead from peace instead of pressure - in your life, your home, your work.

Grounded guidance for the people who set the emotional weather for everyone around them.

Rooted in 30 years of Montessori practice, delivered through one simple framework: the Peace Wheel.

For Schools & Educators

Prepare the adult who prepares the environment.

Peace education and professional development for Montessori Heads of School, teachers, and the educators who hold space for children every day.

"Establishing peace is the work of education." — Maria Montessori

Is this your school?

You can feel it the moment you walk in: when the adults are steady, the children settle;

when the adults are stretched thin, everything gets louder.

Faculty burnout. Reactivity in hard moments. Turnover. Conversations that go sideways.

The honest move — what Jim Collins calls confronting the brutal facts — is to name these plainly.

But they aren't discipline problems. They're connection problems, and they're more nuanced than any quick fix.

And the environment you work so hard to prepare for children is only ever as steady as the adults standing inside it.

Montessori named the deeper work a century ago: the spiritual preparation of the adult.

Before we prepare the classroom, we prepare ourselves -

clearing our own lens of perception so we can see the light within each child,

and meet one another, from a settled and open place.

And it moves in an order. The framework gives you the system.

Your own self-awareness and your willingness to trust the process is what turns the system into lasting change.

The idea

Montessori taught us to prepare the environment for the child. But the environment was never only the classroom; it's the adult standing in it.

Stephen Covey called this working from the inside out: private victory precedes public victory. You cannot give a community a steadiness you haven't found in yourself. When the adult does their own inner work, they clear their lens and begin to see the light within each child and reflect it back until it shines through.

Prepare the adult, and the whole community feels it: less reactivity, more presence, a clearer culture.

I bring the same inner practice I teach leaders and families to your faculty and your school through one simple, teachable framework,

the Peace Wheel: Calm · Clarity · Clearing · Choice

Why Me?

For 30 years I've done this work from inside Montessori, as a classroom guide, a Head of School for 13 years, and as a Montessori teacher-trainer.

I've served on training faculty at COMET (Columbus, OH), the Montessori Center of the Rockies (CO), and Seacoast Center satellite sites (NY, TN, WY), and presented at AMS National Conferences from 2002–2014. I hold an M.Ed. from Xavier University, a forerunner of Montessori education. I'm a peace educator and Montessori guide, and trained within a living Montessori peace-education lineage.

I'm not consulting from theory. I've sat in your chair, and I've trained the people who sit in your teachers'.

I've led a communities through growth, conflict, emotional development, and change.

And across thirty years I've gathered what actually works, Montessori's peace education, Covey's habits of effective people, Collins's research on what carries organizations from good to great and organized it onto one simple wheel any faculty can learn, teach, and live.

It's a system that holds up across private, charter, and public settings alike and grounded in the peace education of AMS Living Legend Sonnie McFarland.

What changes

When the adults are prepared first:

* faculty who can steady themselves before they respond

* leadership that holds hard conversations without losing center

* a shared language for peace that children absorb by osmosis and direct teaching

* a culture that simply feels calmer to walk into - for staff, students, and families

This isn't one more initiative to survive. It's renewal built into how your school runs.

I've built this work in every kind of Montessori setting:

Gloria Dei Montessori, a private Montessori school in Dayton, OH founded in 1962,

and Laramie Montessori Charter School, a charter Montessori school in Laramie, WY as the founding director,

and in my classrooms within the inner-city public Montessori schools in Dayton, OH.

A system that works in all settings and based on AMS Living Legend Sonnie McFarland's Peace Education work

Ways to Bring This to Your School

This doesn't add one more thing to the plate. Your school already lives peace education; it's in the Montessori DNA.

This work steadies the adults first, then gives them systems to carry Sonnie McFarland's peace curriculum with confidence.

Every engagement scales to what your staff already knows; you set the depth.

Start anywhere; most schools begin at the top and go deeper over time.

60-Minute Introduction

A flexible first taste, scoped by you - for your whole staff, your leadership team, or your parents.

Everyone leaves with a shared language

and a felt sense of the prepared adult.

$300–$600

(or complimentary as a discovery session if you're weighing a larger engagement).

Half-Day or Full-Day

Professional Development

Hands-on PD for staff and/or parents:

the prepared adult, the Peace Wheel, and temperament/DISC as a secular lens for understanding your team and your children.

A full day can go two ways: classroom implementation of the peace curriculum, or a deeper reset using the Peace Wheel.

Half-day $900–$1,500 · Full-day $1,800–$3,000.

Two-Day Peace Curriculum Immersion

A deep, hands-on immersion in Sonnie McFarland's peace curriculum, use of the Peace Wheel and understanding of temperment/DISC,

with separate tracks for staff and for parents,

because each needs its own language and depth.

$4,500–$6,500 for both tracks

($2,500/day; single-track available).

Classroom Pilot & Research Study

A semester (10–14 weeks) in one or two classrooms, with pre/post assessments, run as a research partnership.

Materials, biweekly guidance and access to online curriculum

$1,500/semester —

in exchange for an implementation commitment,

assessment data, and case-study + testimonial rights.

The 6-Month Staff Container:

"The Prepared Adult"

A six-month group container for a staff cohort (whole faculty or leadership team): the Return to Center journey adapted for schools (little to no astrology, weighted to curriculum systems and DISC/temperaments) so the adults steady themselves and prepare together: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

$6,000–$15,000

(scales with staff size:

or $1,000–$1,500/month).

The Whole-School Peace Pilot (flagship)

Bundles the 6-month staff container and the classroom pilot into one research-backed study,

documenting both adult and child outcomes.

You get a measurably calmer school and a publishable implementation you can point to.

I've implemented this in two Montessori schools,

one as a backdrop to the actual Peace Education video offered by AMS / EdVid

$10,000–$20,000 bundled; scales with scope

On Going Support

Includes, but not limited to:

* a leadership retainer — monthly coaching for you and your leadership team ($500–$1,500/month)

* a parent workshop series for your families ($350–$600/session),

* conference keynotes.

For Heads of School

You set the emotional weather for everyone in the building, and no one ever prepared you for that part.

It can be lonely, exasperating and the best job in the world. I've been there.

We need leaders who take organizations from good to great, pair deep humility with fierce resolve.

Montessori asked the very same of the guide: to take on humility, and to serve.

Both begin in the same place - internally

.

This is professional development that prepares you first, so you can hold your community without abandoning yourself.

How to begin

Start with the 60-minute introduction, or a quick discovery call.

From there we choose the depth together — a PD day, the two-day immersion, the six-month staff container, or the full Whole-School Peace Pilot — and I'll send a one-page scope and a simple agreement, so nothing is ever a surprise.

A flywheel doesn't turn with one heroic shove; it turns through steady, consistent pushes that compound.

The introduction is the first turn, the spark that ignites the Love Light.
